Dear artists, producers, musicians, poets, writers – creators of art and its judges!

My name is Oles Dzyndra, founder and realizer of “The Museum of Ideas” in Lviv. A space (which is giving the birth to different ideas, which makes them ripening and realizing) where different ideas are born, ripening and realized we called Bernandengarden – a territory of free plastic ideas.

In 2006 the International Festival of Independent Cinema “KinoLev” was founded by us. Attempt of relations between Lviv and Cinema took place several times during the history… On the sixth day after the first cinema session in the world, arranged by the brothers Lumer on December 28, 1895 in the Parisian Grand-café, citizens of Lviv had an opportunity to see this cinematography about Belkur square in Lion, in their own city. At the beginning of the XX-th century a professional film studio was functioning in Valova Street. Today our museum is located here. In 1938 a photographer, producer Julian Dorosh began the shooting of the first Ukrainian colour film «Krylos» – historical narration about the ХІІ-th century, blown by excavations of the temple in Galych. The patron of art of project was a count, Metropolitan of Greek-Catholic Church Andrey Shepticky. On the eve of the Second World War, Warner Brothers – a great American film studio, bought a large plot of land near Lviv city to build here shooting pavilions for their European branch. After the war these plans were realized in the vicinity of Venice. Lviv was always the city of cinema, but we try to make it the capital of Ukrainian cinema.

The essential aim of “KinoLev” is to demonstrate an independent, unprejudiced cinematography, to propagate, to trace, to acquaint with the things that happen today in the world of individual cinematography. Festival demonstrations take a place in the court of Bernandengarden. Why does it have a street format? It’s a format of Lviv. It’s like a small yard, unexpected meeting, pleasant evening conversation… Even a formal part confirms this democracy. There are no tickets, hours, action takes place continuously. Every observer is free to come in and come out. But the most important are people, those in the mass, who are able to find a pearl of spirit. This is the most important thing.

Any artist is a co-author of a Great Creator, his projection, his insignificant micro copy. In ancient times art was a spontaneous expression of existence, customs, religiousness, warfare… Art for these people was indissolubly combined with their life experience. In the same mood human observed wonders, made a pray. The following centuries brought the distinct transformations. Art and religion became the parts of cultural wealth, the ones people address to in decisive moments: in museum, in church, in library etc. Creative work does not exist any more in our everyday issues.

In time of global television a general practice is duplication of somebody else's intentions, scenarios and their realization, without any respect to copyright. With approved clichés the army of producers and operators appeals to us. Successful still found in 20th transformed to stereotype. Soap operas, plastic dishes, masscult of feelings, sensations – pressing of “inner world”. People are getting accustomed to all of this. We want to see everything in usual way, because it’s comfortable. Very often we don’t pay attention to those solitary, which offer us a new finding. But even then, when we convert into individual creation, we make a discovery.

We are not professionals in the cinematography, we are not producers, we are artists, and we decided to initiate a process, which will be fixing, propagandizing, acquainting with everything in the world of individual cinematography. The professionals gladly admit this format, which we propose to them,. “KinoLev” is a demonstration of co-operation between artists, producers, scriptwriters, composers, choreographers, actors…, those who synthesize different kinds of arts into the movie. In this dialogue we give the birth to the elements of truth. We are appealing to the souls, offering this formal approach to inner world. We expect to receive the suggestions, to make this ideology develop, to report and present our ideas exactly.
